The iO9 Special Edition is built for people who carry their toothbrush in a washbag every week. Besides the standard iO9 handle with 7 modes and a coloured interactive display, this box adds a magnetic pouch to the charging travel case. That pairing is what separates it from the regular iO9 bundles, which focus on extra heads instead of extra storage.

Our take
The iO9 handle in brief
Oral-B lists 7 clean modes and a coloured interactive display that tracks brushing time and celebrates a good clean. AI position detection is said to follow where you brush across all three surfaces of the teeth.
The listing also claims that 8 in 10 people became better brushers within a week thanks to iO guidance, and repeats the 100 percent plaque and 300 percent gumline figures against a manual brush.
Travel set up
The charging travel case lets the handle top up away from home, and the magnetic pouch gives a second, softer way to carry it. The listing does not explain how the pouch attaches or what it holds, so look at the photos to judge its size.
Oral-B supplies a UK two-pin charger and states that no adapter is included. Battery life is not quoted.
What is and is not in the box
You get one handle, one brush head, the charger, the case and the pouch. The spec table mentions a pressure sensor, though the bullets do not describe how it signals. A 30 day money back guarantee is offered through Oral-B.
With only one head, plan on buying spares early. Colour listings vary between the title and the specs, so check the variant you select.
Versus other iO9 and iO10 bundles
The Oral-B iO9 with three heads uses the same 7 mode handle and charging case, swapping the pouch for two extra heads and a head holder. The Oral-B iO10 adds iOSense feedback on the charging station and 16-zone tracking, at the cost of an imported listing.
Sonic fans packing for frequent trips could also weigh the Sonicare DiamondClean Prestige 9900 HX9992/12, whose USB case comes with its own lead and wall adapter. It answers the same travel problem from the Philips side, with SenseIQ easing off when you press too hard.
Verdict
The Special Edition makes sense if you travel often and want both a charging case and a magnetic pouch with the full iO9 handle. If you would rather have spare heads than a pouch, choose the iO9 with three heads, and if charger-based feedback appeals, look at the iO10.
