The Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 is for people who know they should floss but rarely do, and for anyone with braces who struggles with string floss. It is the only product in our sonic guide that combines a sonic toothbrush and a water flosser in one handle. A button switches between brushing, flossing or both at once, so the whole routine happens in one device standing on one base.

Our take

How the combination works

Waterpik lists three modes: brush, floss, or brush and floss together. The handle connects to a base with a 16 oz removable reservoir, and water flows through the special flosser brush heads while you brush.

The brand claims clinical evidence that the combination is up to twice as effective as traditional brushing and flossing at reducing plaque and improving gum health. It also mentions the American Dental Association seal for its water flossers.

Brushing and flossing settings

The toothbrush side has two speeds, a two minute timer and a 30 second pacer to prompt you to move around the mouth. The flosser offers 10 pressure settings and 60 seconds of flossing time.

Those ten pressure steps are the real comfort control here. Starting low and building up is the usual advice with water flossers, and the range gives room to do that.

Setup, storage and travel

In the box you get the unit, two flosser brush heads (one compact, one full size), two brush head covers, a toothbrush travel case and a magnetic brush head storage pole. Waterpik states global voltage and backs it with a three year limited warranty.

The handle charges in the base, which needs a mains socket, and the reservoir has to be filled for flossing, so it takes more counter space than a standard brush. Battery life is not stated, and there is no app.

Versus a plain sonic brush

The Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 is a simpler sonic brush with a pressure sensor and a two week battery, ideal if you already floss separately. The Sonicare DiamondClean 9000 adds app guidance and a USB travel case, but neither one cleans between teeth with water.

Verdict

Choose the Sonic-Fusion 2.0 if you want brushing and water flossing in one step, particularly with braces or bridges, and have counter space near a socket. If you already use floss or interdental brushes, the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 or the Sonicare DiamondClean 9000 will be simpler to live with.
