**In short:** Look for the model number starting with HX, printed on the back or bottom of the handle, on the box or on the charger label. Search Philips' UK website for that HX number to see the series name, such as DiamondClean 9000 or ProtectiveClean 6100, and its manual. If the handle has no readable number, the button layout, mode names and charger type narrow it down.

Knowing your exact Sonicare model helps when you need a manual, a replacement charger, the right heads or warranty support. Philips has sold many series over the years, often in several bundles, so the name on the box is not always enough. This guide shows where to find the model number, how to decode the series names, and how to identify a handle when the number has worn off. It also explains which heads and chargers are likely to fit.

## Find the HX model number

Philips uses model numbers that start with HX for Sonicare toothbrushes. Check these places, in order:

1. The back or bottom of the handle: lift it off the charger and look for small printed or moulded text.
2. The original box or the receipt, which usually shows the full HX number.
3. The charger's label, which shows the charger's own model number.
4. The Sonicare app, if your handle connects, which can show the handle model.
5. Your Amazon order history, if you bought it there.

## Decode the number and series

The HX number includes a series code and a variant code after the slash, for colour and bundle. For example, the DiamondClean 9000 in our guides is HX9911/63, and the DiamondClean 9900 Prestige is HX9992/43. Two handles with the same first part but different endings are usually the same brush in different colours or bundles.

Search the HX number on Philips' UK website to bring up the product page and manual. As a rough guide, HX99 numbers belong to the DiamondClean and Prestige families; other ranges use different numbers.

| Model number | Series name |
| --- | --- |
| HX9911/63 | DiamondClean 9000 |
| HX9917/89 | DiamondClean Smart 9400 |
| HX9992/43 | DiamondClean 9900 Prestige |

## No readable number? Identify by features

If the text has worn off and you have no box, the handle's features narrow it down. Count the buttons and note the mode names or icons on the handle. A light ring at the base and a glass or stand charger point to DiamondClean models. A single button and no mode icons point to an entry series such as the 3100. Compare what you see with the product images on Philips' website.

## Which heads fit

Most current Sonicare rechargeable handles take click-on heads, so A3, C3, G3 and other click-on heads fit across the range. Some older or battery models, and Philips One, use their own heads. Genuine heads with a BrushSync chip trigger the replacement reminder on handles that support it.

## Which chargers fit

Many Sonicare handles charge on the same standard inductive stand, while DiamondClean models often come with a charging glass, and some premium handles have travel cases with USB charging. Before buying a replacement charger, check Philips' compatibility information for your HX number. ## Warranty and support

Philips asks for the model number and proof of purchase for warranty claims, so note the HX number somewhere safe when you buy. ## Why the model matters when buying parts

Getting the model right saves money and hassle. A replacement charger that does not match your handle will not charge it, and a travel case sized for one handle may not fit another. Some features, such as BrushSync mode pairing, Easy-start settings and travel lock, only exist on certain series, so instructions found online may not apply to your brush. When you buy heads, the HX number tells you whether your handle supports BrushSync reminders, which decide whether genuine heads with a chip are worth it to you. Write the number on the inside of a bathroom cabinet door or save a photo of it, so you have it next time you shop or contact Philips support.

## Frequently asked questions

**Where is the model number on a Sonicare?** Usually on the back or bottom of the handle, starting with HX.

**Does the number after the slash matter?** It usually marks colour or bundle. The first part identifies the series.

**Can I find my model in the app?** If your handle connects to the Sonicare app, it can show the model.

**Do all Sonicare heads fit my handle?** Most click-on heads fit most current handles. Check Philips' compatibility list for your HX number.
